Chief Data Architect and Senior Software Engineer

Role Description:

Primary Responsibilities

1. DESIGN
   1. Data design
   2. Data architecture
   3. Application design
   4. Application Architecture
   5. Integration of diagnostic machines
   6. Any other aspects of the design necessary for a successful project
2. DEVELOPMENT
   1. Execute the implementation of the database design
   2. Server-side programming and development
   3. Client-side and/or mid-tier development
   4. Integration of diagnostic machines
   5. Any other aspects of development necessary for a successful development exercise.
3. IMPLEMENTATION
   1. Implement new system Live (parallel with legacy systems)
   2. Provide assistance in developing the documentation (support role, not primary responsibility).
   3. Provide assistance in developing the training material (support role, not primary responsibility).
4. ENSURING THE OVERALL SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT

What you need to succeed:

• Deep understanding of data and data hygiene.
• Evangelical belief in proper data and database design.
• A hero of proper software design and development.
• Natural programmer, fluid coder.
• Understanding of the Relational model and normalized data.
• Can act as a technical lead for junior and intermediate developers.

• Oracle Database 10g.
• Development tools: Oracle SQL Developer and Oracle Application Express. However, as lead software developer, you may choose to select a development tool of your choice (to be discussed).
• Strong PL/SQL development skills (including s/procs, packages, etc.)
• Experience with integration of data from external machine sources (through delimited data files)

Working details

• General: We work in a flexible, adaptable manner, while maintaining the required discipline to ensure the project's success. Working hours are not rigid, as long as we stay within reasonable parameters.
• Working day: We define a working day as anywhere between 7-9 hours, flexible as per the nature of the software business (exception in next point).
• Working week: The position is a full-time position with a bonus twist: Mondays we start at 1pm.
• Computer equipment: A dedicated workstation and dedicated desk space for the project at the customer's site. VPN access to this workstation.
• It is assumed that you also have your own computer equipment for remote access and for use when required by circumstance to best complete the objectives of the project.
• Design signoff: We will obtain customer signoff at these stages:
  • Requirements.
  • Data Design.
  • Application design.
